Police will conduct a statewide random breath testing (RBT) operation, code-named Drink-Drive, from early tomorrow until midnight on Sunday.
They expect to breath test between 30,000 and 50,000 motorists.
A man used a sawn-off shotgun to rob a McDonald's restaurant at Thornleigh on Saturday night.
Sergeant Gordon Brann, of Hornsby police, said the offender told the manager and a staff member to give him money from the safe and cash register. He pointed the gun at another staff member before running from the restaurant
The wanted man is described as aged 20, 175 cm (five feet nine inches)tall, and slim.

A gunman told his victim to "have a good evening" as he made off with money from the Ampol service station at Hornsby last week.
Senior Sergeant Ian Whitehall, of Hornsby police, said the man had produced a revolver and demanded money from an attendant.
When the attendant handed over money the gunman said, "Thank you, have a good evening" before walking out.
The bandit is described as aged 40, 175 cm (five feet nine inches) tall, medium build, brown eyes, short hair and fair complexion.
The gun was similar to a police .38 calibre revolver. Police are investigating another armed robbery of a service station at Waitara in which the bandit used a similar weapon.
The wanted man is described as 185 cm (six feet one inch) tall, solid build.
